Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may be directly responsible for a major NFL rule change, it has been claimed.

The celebrity power couple have been dating since 2023, with Swift regularly seen supporting Kelce at Kansas City Chiefs games.

She was in a box with friends and family members for the Super Bowl 59 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome, which denied Kelce and the Chiefs a third straight win.

There has been some negativity from NFL pundits about their relationship, but a new report from MARCA has delved into the monumental financial impact Swift has had on the NFL.

According to Apex Marketing, Swift, by merely being in a relationship with Kelce and being present in the stands, has contributed an estimated $1 billion in brand value to the NFL - taking many mediums into account.

Since the pop sensation's involvement, social media engagement, merchandise sales, and TV ratings have all gone through the roof and there have also been an influx of new female fans.

The NFL said nearly half of their followers on TikTok in 2024 were female and some have the feeling that Swift and Kelce have played a key role in a sizeable salary cap increase.

The cap (limit) for the 2025 season is set to be somewhere between $277.5 million and $281.5 million and is one of the most significant increases in history.

Yearly increases are normal but the latest rise has led many to form the view that Swift is a driving force behind it.

The piece from MARCA writes: "Could Taylor Swift be part of the reason teams now have more cash to work with? Some analysts aren't ruling it out. The financial explosion fueled by her presence has had ripple effects throughout the league, and with the Chiefs continuing their dominance, her impact on the game isn't slowing down anytime soon. Whether fans love it or hate it, the NFL is making more money than ever-and it's impossible to ignore who's been at the center of it all."

Kelce's retirement decision

Kelce, meanwhile, is currently pondering whether to retire from football ahead of the new season. Though the NFL will almost definitely be hoping he continues his career, the tight-end has said he must make "the best decision for me as a man" and will not be rushing into a verdict.

It's been claimed that he has until March 14 to make his decision, with Kelce's brother Jason stating that he has likely already made his mind up in his head.
