Rumours that Taylor Swift could perform at the Super Bowl halftime show have seemingly been shut down before they ever really got going.
Swift is one of the most popular artists in the world, yet she has not joined the list of stars to headline the famous show. Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and The Weeknd have all taken to the stage in recent years.
More than 133.5 million people tuned in to watch Lamar earlier this year, highlighting the size of the event.
And Swift has been at the last two Super Bowls, attending to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs and her fiancé Travis Kelce. She watched the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in 2024, before seeing them fall short against the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

Her appearance has fuelled speculation that she might headline the halftime show.

Fans pointed to her growing interest in the NFL, and believed that she had dropped 'Easter eggs' that hint at a future involvement. On a recent episode of the New Heights podcast with Kelce, Swift discussed the halftime show and revealed that she had watched all of them.
She also joked that she thinks about sourdough bread '60% of the time'.

With next year's Super Bowl to be staged at the home of the 49ers, whose mascot is Sourdough Sam, fans quickly became excited.
However, reports have now have suggested that Adele, not Swift, has been approached about performing. The English singer has a history with the Super Bowl.

She previously revealed that she turned down the chance to perform in 2017. Speaking to a Los Angeles crowd in 2016, Adele explained her decision: "First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl… I mean, that show is not about music.

"I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.”
Both the NFL and sponsor Pepsi denied that they made an official offer.
They confirmed that conversations were held with different artists but said no formal proposal had been sent out to Adele.
Normally, the performer for the Super Bowl halftime show is revealed at some point in September.

For Swift, her focus will be elsewhere as she concentrates on her latest album, 'The Life of a Showgirl' that is set to be released on 3 October.
There are also rumours that a film will accompany the release of her latest album.
Swifties will also be hoping that she announces another world tour to follow the hugely successful Eras Tour.
