NFL Fans Raise Concerns as Presenter Slurs Speech in Live TV Interview

Viewers were worried for an NFL presenter on social media

NFL fans have voiced concern after presenter Pam Oliver appeared to slur her words during a live television interview.

The 64-year-old broadcaster was working at the Steelers vs Vikings game in Dublin, when her speech raised eyebrows.

A clip circulated online, with fans questioning whether she was unwell. However, Oliver has been open about her long-standing health issues, particularly severe migraines that have affected her.

In an interview in 2021 with The Athletic, she revealed that she used to suffer five or six migraines a month, but that number had now dropped to around three. Oliver said: "I consider that being lucky. They’re very debilitating for me.

"They’ve been a problem for a very, very long time. It’s caused me to miss a few games over the span of my career because I just couldn’t take the noise and the light and the sickness that comes with that.

"The nausea and the vomiting."

Despite her health challenges, Oliver has continued to work as a broadcaster covering both the NBA and the NFL.

The immediate reaction online was largely of concern and empathy. @notyourpirate wrote: "Pam Oliver is a professional and has been doing this job for 30 years.

"She has a health condition and this is a symptom of that condition. Educate yourselves.

Another fan, @NFLmrMiyagi commented: "She's trying to hear through the ear piece it's been an issue in her post games. Rodgers notoriously tries to help her out she's got health problems migraines."

And @robice4705_ice added: "Give her credit for trying. I believe she suffers from severe migraines and/or the related medicines.

"She's a trooper for working through it."

At 64, Oliver is currently the oldest sideline reporter in the NFL. She was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame earlier this year as part of the Class of 2025.

It was recognition for an illustrious career, covering more than 500 games, including Super Bowls and NFL Championship matches.

What has Pam Oliver said about her health?

Oliver has yet to comment directly on the Dublin incident.

But when she discussed her health in 2021, she spoke openly about how disruptive migraines can be on a game day.

Oliver added: "There was one game, about three-four years ago.

"I live in Atlanta. I was minutes from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. My driver, I said, you gotta pull over.

"We were less than five minutes from the stadium. I’m hurling. My head is pounding. And I made the decision right then and there, I’m no good to anyone.

"There’s no way that I felt like I was going to get through that game, be productive, help the crew, contribute in any way.

"So, turned around and I went home. I felt so guilty about that for the longest time, but they really do knock me out of action."
