Kansas City Chiefs Stat Released after Jaguars Loss and It's Almost Unbelievable

The four-time Super Bowl champions have struggled so far this season

A Kansas City Chiefs suffered a shock loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football, with it bringing along the end to one of the best runs in NFL history.

The Chiefs continued their mixing start to the NFL season with a 31-28 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It leaves them with just two wins from their first five games, while the Jaguars' victory made it four wins from five, which is their best start to a season since 2007. It was a dramatic finish to the game, with Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence scoring a one-yard touchdown with just 23 seconds left to play.

Lawrence's effort was made even more impressive, as he initially slipped and fell to the ground, before getting back to his feet and getting over the line for the all important touchdown. That run also ended an eight-game losing streak for the Jaguars against the Chiefs, having not beaten them since 2009.

But that was not the only eye-catching statistic to come out of the game. Before the match, the Chiefs had won 23 consecutive games, including playoff fixtures when they led by at least 14 points.

At one stage, the Chiefs looked in control with a 14-0 lead, but they were unable to protect their advantage and eventually fell short by just three points.

It was a disappointing result for the Chiefs and their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Although he was responsible for two touchdowns, he also had an opportunity to inspire a late comeback with just 16 seconds remaining, but he was unable to mount a serious threat.

Since he became a regular starter in 2018, Mahomes has built a reputation for late heroics, recording 19 comebacks in the final quarter.

So to come up short in the final moments of the game will have been a major frustration for the NFL star.

Mahomes said: “We have the guys and we’ve executed at certain points in games and looked really good. But we crush ourselves with penalties and mistakes.

“We’ve got to be better. We’ve lost too many games already.”

The Chiefs return to action on Sunday, when they host the Detroit Lions, who have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign with a 4-1 record.

Having reached the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons, Chiefs fans will be hoping that they can rediscover their form and make another impressive run.

But the early signs suggest that it will be much harder for the Chiefs this year, who have yet to find their consistency.
