Four-Time World's Strongest Man Lays Into Cristiano Ronaldo

Four-Time World's Strongest Man Lays Into Cristiano Ronaldo

There's certainly nothing small about this bloke's mentality...

Ex World's Strongest Man Magnus Ver Magnusson has ripped into Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portugese skipper's comments about Iceland and their "small mentality".

Ronaldo was quite clearly filled with frustration when the minnows claimed a 1-1 draw with Portugal in their opening fixture of Euro 2016. The Real Madrid superstar questioned Iceland's mentality, but was made to eat his words when Iceland finished ahead of Portugal in Group F.

And Magnusson, considered a cult hero in his homeland, has hit back at Ronaldo with some brutal words.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, he said:

Cristiano Ronaldo acted like a p***y when he said Iceland was never going to win anything, I bet he never expected us to finish above them in the group. Football is as much about the team as the individual, as Leicester City have already proved this season. I suspect even Ronaldo regrets making those comments in the heat of the moment.

Iceland have been paired against England in the Euro 2016 and Magnusson reckons Iceland can do the job. He even dropped in a few comparisons to his strongman career.

I was never the biggest or the heaviest when I was competing, but I was always up there, and that kind of determination has also helped these guys get through. They have the strong spirit and explosive power they need to succeed. England will be the favourites to win, but we have shown already there is no reason we have anything to fear.

Some sort of altercation between Ronaldo and Magnusson would be quite something, and even though the four-time World's Strongest Man is 56 now, he's still an absolute unit.
