Shaquille O'Neal spent $1.3 million on three Rolls-Royce cars after he was angered by what a salesman said to the NBA icon.

O'Neal is one of the greatest players in NBA history, spending 19 seasons in the league across six franchises, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.

During that career, he was an All-Star 15 times and won four NBA championships.

His illustrious basketball career has made him one of the richest sportsmen in history, with Celebrity Net Worth estimating his net worth at $500 million (£393 million).

But that has not stopped O'Neal making big-money purchases, as he once revealed in a podcast.

He said: "I don't want to spend $400,000 for a car, so I'm like hey man, how much is this one?

"So finally, the old guy says yo man, you asked about all these cars can you afford them?

"Now I'm p*****, I say what the f*** you just said to me?

"So I buy three, that one, that one and that one and I want them dropped off, move the seat back today I want them dropped.

"So I got three Rolls Royce's that I never drive, so there goes another million, that's six."

How did Shaquille O'Neal make his fortune?

O'Neal signed massive contracts throughout his NBA career, including the league's biggest ever at the time.

In 1996, he signed a seven-year deal with the LA Lakers worth an eye-watering $120 million (£91 million).

Although it was a huge outlay from the Lakers, it soon paid off, with the team winning three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002.

During that time, he played alongside Kobe Bryant in one of the best basketball teams of the modern era.

But O'Neal did not just rely on basketball to make his millions.

He has invested in a range of different industries, including car washes, night clubs and at one stage he owned 155 Five Guys franchises.

O'Neal even invested in Google, which has a market cap valuation of £1.76 trillion.

According to Business Insider, his decision to invest in the technology giant was a complete 'accident'.

Although it is not known how much he invested, Fadeaway World claims that the basketball icon invested at least $250,000.

In February, O'Neal also signed a new deal with TNT Sports worth more than $15 million a year.

It means the cast of 'Inside the NBA' will stay together, as Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will remain on the show.
