Michael Jordan's most expensive holiday was with fellow NBA legend and the full cost breakdown is staggering

The NBA legend is no stranger to lavish getaways, but one trip trumps the rest.

Michael Jordan’s ‘most expensive’ holiday was alongside another NBA superstar, and the reported cost is eye-watering.

Jordan, 61, is one of the most recognisable figures in the world of sport. The Brooklyn-born NBA legend secured six championships in his 15 seasons in the competition, with three consecutive triumphs with the Chicago Bulls between 1996 and 1998.

And with great talent comes great popularity, which normally sees commercial deals signed and money made, such as Nike’s success with ‘Air Jordan’ sneakers, which were first released in 1984.

Through various business ventures, commercial deals and his earnings from basketball, the American is one of the richest sportspeople of all time and has a net worth of $3.5B, according to Forbes.

Such vast wealth has allowed the legend to live a lavish lifestyle involving fast cars, impressive houses and expensive holidays, but there was a vacation back in 2023, during which Jordan was accompanied by a fellow basketball star, that trumps the spending of most.

According to reports from Essentially Sports, the former Chicago Bulls icon was on vacation with Earvin “Magic" Johnson on a trip that included journeys through France, Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia on a luxury yacht.

Reports suggest that Johnson, 65, spent $7.5m on the trip with his friends, Samuel L. Jackson and Judge Greg Mathis and their partners.

The yacht’s charter price was said to be $1.25m per week.

However, the Mail reported that the trip cost an estimated $1.2m per week. And despite being one of the wealthiest sportspeople of all time, Johnson revealed that he “never thought” he and Jordan would ever be able to lead the lifestyle they do now.

“Jimmy, it's funny - both of us never thought we would be in this position,” Johnson explained when speaking on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

“Out there with yachts, to be able to go to dinner with our wives, to be in Europe.

“It is mind-blowing to both of us, and we have fun with it.”

As reported by People, the group cruised the Mediterranean on a 296-foot superyacht, which accommodates 12 guests and offers seven cabins with access to their own staircase and private jacuzzis. It is unclear how much Jordan spent while on vacation with Johnson.

In July 2024, Jordan was spotted in Barcelona, Spain, the city where he won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA, dubbed the ‘Dream Team’ in the 1992 games.

On that occasion, he was aboard his $15m yacht, according to the Mail.
