NBA legend Michael Jordan once broke a US law after spending $350,000 on a baseball team bus.

Having enjoyed a highly successful career that saw him win six NBA titles, while being named a five-time MVP and six-time NBA finals MVP, Jordan is often considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time.

Throughout his career, Jordan also enjoyed a sponsorship from iconic sports brand Nike, with the two collaborating to create the popular 'Air Jordan' shoe range.

Of course, so much success both on and off the basketball court meant that Jordan was bringing in some serious amounts of money even from the very start of his career.

However, there is one time when Jordan's wealth led to him breaking the law shortly after buying a new bus for a breathtaking $350,000.

Following the passing of his dad James Jordan, MJ decided that he wanted to pursue his life-long dream of playing professional baseball.

Thankfully for Jordan, Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Chicago Bulls, also owned a minor league team called the Birmingham Barons, and agreed to let the NBA star join while still paying him his Bulls salary.

During his time with the Barons, Jordan decided to splash out and spend $350,000 on a bus for the Barons team to travel to their games in.

And, although he likely did not have the license to do so, Jordan reportedly once decided to get behind the wheel and drive the 45-foot-long coach while on a highway.

Speaking about the incident a report from The Sports Rush claims that Barons broadcaster, Curt Bloom, said: “For a couple miles on an open highway, completely open highway, he actually jumped in the driver’s seat and was driving.

“We made the switch probably going 70mph and our bus driver got up and Michael sat there and turned it a few times and went straight. I certainly hope that doesn’t get anybody in trouble. Department of Transportation, we’re sorry, and the statute of limitations has passed.”

When asked to explain exactly why Jordan decided to do this, he added: “Because he can and it made a funny story.”
