Luka Doncic has set a rare Los Angeles Lakers record that not even LeBron James has managed, as they edged past the San Antonio Spurs in a thrilling NBA contest.
The Lakers claimed a narrow 118-116 victory to record their seventh win in nine games.
Doncic returned to the lineup after missing time through injury, and delivered an outstanding all-round display.
He played 42 minutes, scoring a team-high 35 points, while also registering 13 assists and five steals.

In doing so, the Slovenian became the first player in Lakers history to record at least 35 points, 10 assists and five steals in a single game - a feat not even James has managed during his time in Los Angeles.
After the game, Doncic reflected on the challenge of facing Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who has also impressed so far this year.

Doncic said: “I have much respect for him, much love, and I really enjoy these games. Playing against him is very tough."
The victory was the Lakers' fifth consecutive win, despite the continued absence of James, who remains sidelined with a nerve issue that has kept him out since the start of the season.
While there is no confirmed return date for James, the team hopes he will be available by the end of November.
In his absence, the Lakers have relied on Doncic to shoulder the scoring responsibilities.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick said. “For him and for the group, the word of the day is like resiliency.
“He showed that in the second half.

"Playing through some foul trouble, playing through what quite honestly was a frustrating, abnormal offensive night for him. And he stayed with it.
“Without Austin [Reaves], without LeBron [James], his teammates are looking to him to kind of keep that resolve and keep that positive disposition, and he was able to do that throughout the game.
"That’s an area of growth and I thought he was great at that.”
Redick also praised the team's togetherness and mentality, crediting them for their ability to bounce back.
He added: “Our group is so connected right now, we were able to get back together and there was no quitting.
“There was no splintering. It’s a connected group.”
The Lakers return to action on November 8, when they face the Atlanta Hawks, who have made a mixed start, with four wins and four defeats.
If the Lakers extend their winning run, optimism will continue to grow among fans about their chances of making the NBA Finals.
