LeBron James was once asked which NBA team he'd never play for and it speaks volumes

A fan asked if there was a team LeBron would never consider playing for.

LeBron James sparked rumours of a potential trade when he recently posted pictures of himself with the Los Angeles Clippers logo behind him.

James, who opted into the final year of his contract with the LA Lakers in June – a decision that means he will become the first player in NBA history to play in 23 seasons – could be seen working out at what many assumed to be the Clippers' practice facility.

However, it soon emerged that Klutch Sports Group, the agency that represents LeBron, simply uses the Clippers' old training facility in Playa Vista, and the logo has yet to be removed.

A source would soon clarify the situation to Dallas Hoops Journal as they claimed James would "never play for the Clippers" amid ongoing rumours regarding a potential trade.

“LeBron was working out at a Klutch Sports Group office,” the source said.

“Klutch uses the Clippers’ old facility in Playa Vista. This is a non-story. People need to stop reading into everything LeBron does. Plus, LeBron will never play for the Clippers. He has said that many times to people in his circle.”

LeBron James once responded to fan who asked which NBA team he’d never play for

It is claimed LeBron would never play for the Clippers, but back in 2020, the four-time NBA MVP admitted he would 'keep all his options open' after being asked if there was an NBA team he would never represent.

As you can see from the clip below, James went on to stress his admiration for the Lakers.

“I'm still playing, man; I gotta keep all my options open," he said on an Instagram live. "Right now, I'll tell you one thing. I don't want to go nowhere besides be here, baby. Be a Laker for the rest of my life.”

Last month, the Dallas Mavericks emerged as a potential suitor for James following the departure of Luca Doncic.

That being said, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported that the Mavericks, who failed to progress beyond the play-in tournament last season, would only be interested in signing the 40-year-old if the Lakers were to buy out his current mega-money contract.
