LeBron James has already decided what he will do when he retires from basketball

The LA Lakers power forward has already explained what his plans are when he leaves the NBA.

LeBron James has already revealed what he'll do when he retires from basketball - and it may not be what you'd expect.

James, 40, is still going strong and is widely considered to be one of the greatest players to have played in the NBA - with Michael Jordan, Steph Curry and Kobe Bryant also part of the GOAT chat.

But given the fact James is now into his fifth decade in a league dominated by young talent – with the average age of players between 23-26 - his future is often the subject of interest from media and fans.

So, what has James said about potentially retiring?

When speaking on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ in March, the 40-year-old gave his thoughts on the prospect of retiring.

"It’s popping up more and more every year," James said.

"Obviously, I know that I’m on the other side of the hill than the other side. For me, it’s about my mind. I’m all about the process. If it gets to the point where I don't feel like showing up to the arena five hours in advance.

“Or I don't feel like training. Or I don't feel like studying the scout sheet of guys. If it gets to that point, I'll know, 'You know what, Bron, that's a wrap.' I will be able to tell."

Last year, James even claimed he could play at a high level for “about another five to seven years if I wanted to” before making clear that he doesn’t plan on doing that.

But when the time does eventually come for LeBron to call it a day, what does he plan on doing next?

Well, the Lakers star will no doubt be kept occupied by his multiple business ventures – including owning stakes in baseball, soccer and hockey teams.

However, he mentioned another aspect of his life when discussing what his priority will be.

“When I’m done playing the game, that time will be—priority number one will be my wife,” LeBron said on ‘Mind the Game’ podcast.

“It would be my wife, my kids, you know, and I just thank them for allowing me to have me as priority number one while I’ve had this profession.”
