UFC 315 suffers setback as major change made to card just 24 hours before event after double error

A huge change has been made to the UFC 315 fight card.

UFC 315 has suffered a setback as a major change has been made to the card just 24 hours before the event.

The famed Octagon sets up shop in Montreal, Quebec, for the first time since 2015 with a huge event on Saturday.

Two UFC championship bouts feature on the show as Belal Muhammad defends his UFC welterweight title against Australia's Jack Della Maddalena while UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko puts her belt on the line against France's Manon Fiorot.

The UFC 315 main-card also features a lightweight clash between Benoit Saint Denis and Kyle Prepolec as well as Alexa Grasso vs. Natalia Silva.

Not to mention UFC legend Jose Aldo vs. hometown boy Aiemann Zahabi.

But their bantamweight bout will now be contested at featherweight following Friday's official weigh-ins.

Aldo, who appeared to be struggling to make weight, tipped the scales at 143lbs, missing weight by a massive seven pounds.

Zahabi also missed weight. He weighed 142lbs but it's unclear whether he could have made weight following Aldo's struggles.

The 38-year-old reigned as the UFC featherweight champion at the peak of his powers.

He entered the promotion as the UFC featherweight king following his heroics under the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) banner.

The Brazilian made seven successful defences of his 145lbs crown before succumbing to Conor McGregor, who scored a 13-second victory at UFC 194.

But Aldo regained the UFC featherweight title following his victory over Frankie Edgar as McGregor moved up in weight.

However, he lost the title to Max Holloway before losing their rematch.

After a defeat to Alexander Volkanovski in a non-title featherweight bout, Aldo dropped down to bantamweight.

He lost his 135lbs debut to Marlon Moraes before losing to Petr Yan for the vacant UFC bantamweight championship.

Aldo has remained at bantamweight since his title defeat to Yan, going 4-2.

He hasn't fought since his defeat to Mario Bautista at UFC 307 last October.
