Fans genuinely can't believe the corner instructions David Goggins delivered to Tony Ferguson against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296.

Ferguson enlisted the help of former NAVY Seal and ultramarathon runner Goggins for his UFC lightweight showdown against Pimblett.

He trained with the 48-year-old ahead of his UFC 296 assignment as he looked to snap a six-fight losing streak.

But 'El Cucuy' was unable to beat Pimblett despite having Goggins in his corner. He lost every round on the judges' scorecards as he lost his seventh fight in a row.

Ferguson was badly hurt in the first round as the Liverpool fighter almost secured a finish. He went onto dominate the American before winning a decision.

Goggins' couldn't help Ferguson in between rounds, with a video showing exactly what he said to the 39-year-old when he was in the Octagon. Check it out below:

"Stay up, Tony," he could be heard saying in the clip posted on social media. He also repeatedly said: "It's time now!"

Goggins' advice in the corner was slammed by UFC fans as they made their feelings clear about the unusual collaboration.

One X user wrote: "Is this the silliest colab to ever happen? Only Tony would be up for this."

A second tweeted: "He was so loud that even Paddy listened to him."

A third added: "All David Goggins needed to scream was Head Movement and that would have been the icing on the cake."

A fourth said: "The funniest part is that he thinks he’s helping him."

Another commented: "I like Goggins but this is good enough proof that having an intense mindset and workout ethic isn’t enough."

Ferguson hasn't won a UFC fight since June 2019 when he beat Donald Cerrone.

After losing his seventh consecutive fight, Dana White expressed his desire for him to retire.

"I would love to see Tony retire," he said during his post-fight press conference.

"When you talk about a skid, you look at the guys he fought, too. That plays a factor into it and how did he look right up until he lost? Tony tonight looked like he should retire."
