UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones was in no doubt when he named the most overrated fighter in the company’s roster.

Jones, 37, is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and the current heavyweight title holder, although Britain’s Tom Aspinall holds an interim belt.

And despite Jones currently facing accusations that he is scared of Aspinall, with fans even starting a petition in the hope of seeing him stripped of the belt, the 37-year-old’s legacy in the sport of MMA has already been assured.

Jones is many people’s greatest of all time (GOAT), including Joe Rogan.

“I just think there’s a real problem with saying ‘the number one of all time, the greatest of all time...' But if you were going to give it to someone, I’d say give it to Jon,” Rogan said previously on his podcast.

And Jones himself is not one to hold back with his opinion on MMA, and that was the case when he appeared on DeepCut earlier this week.

Jones was asked who the most overrated fighter in the UFC is, to which he replied: “Overrated UFC fighter? That’s funny.

“I could say his name but it’s really just because I don’t like him.

“Saying his name gives him clout, which I also don’t wanna do.

“His initials are ‘CC’, and he’s a total d——–.

“If you watch the sport, I think people will know who I’m talking about.”

It’s safe to assume the fighter he spoke about was former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington.

There has been a long-running feud between the pair for some time.

In December 2024, Jones goaded Covington after his defeat to Joaquin Buckley.

Jones took to X and wrote: "Big shoutout to Colby Covington for skipping training to get President Trump ‘ready’—we all appreciate the sacrifice [clown]. At least he got to see me win.”

He added: "That’s what I find the most hilarious, listening to what he’s gonna come up with next after getting his a** whooped.”

“Of course he’s talking about me,” Covington said on his Twitch channel in the days that followed.

“He wishes he looked like me. He wishes he had these kinds of looks and was this beautiful and had this much respect. He has no respect.”
