Mark Zuckerberg gives major update on his MMA fight during appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast

The founder and CEO of Meta issued an update on his proposed MMA career when speaking with the UFC commentator.

Mark Zuckerberg has seemingly issued an update on his proposed MMA career while speaking with Joe Rogan.

Zuckerberg, 40, is best known for founding the social media platform Facebook and its parent company Meta, of which he is the CEO.

But aside from his business ventures, the New York-born businessman has previously been linked with fighting fellow tech billionaire Elon Musk after the pair went back and forth on social media in 2023 regarding a proposed fight. But the bout never materialised.

UFC chief Dana White even expressed his interest in promoting the event.

"It would have been the biggest fight ever done," White said when speaking on 'the Lex Fridman podcast' in 2024.

"Two of the most powerful, wealthiest men in the world. Lots of people talk s**t, go back and forth and sue each other.

"These two guys were literally talking about facing each other in the Octagon and fighting.

"And they're in a business that is looked at as geeky - they're 'tech nerds'. These are two dudes that were willing to throw down and fight.

"I was taking serious real time working on this thing, I had projections and I had numbers. I was looking at venues, on the phone with the f***ing colosseum in Italy.

“These guys were serious and it was something that was really gonna happen. In the short amount of time that it was going down, I was having a blast with it."

Zuckerberg was previously pictured training with former UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski.

The Facebook founder reportedly practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu regularly, so much so that he was awarded his blue belt by legendary coach Dave Camarilla in the summer of 2023 according to Bloody Elbow.

The billionaire has now issued an update on a potential MMA career when speaking on ‘The Joe Rogan Podcast’ in episode #2255.

Rogan, 57, asked Zuckerberg if he still had plans to take part in an MMA fight.

“I want to [have an MMA fight], and I think I probably will,” replied the Meta CEO.

“But we’ll see…2025 is going to be a very busy year on the AI (artificial intelligence) side. I think the idea of having a competition, you really need to get into the headspace of ‘I’m going to fight someone this week’.

“I need to figure this out…I don’t know how with everything that’s going on in AI, [how] I’m going to have like a week or two where I can just get into this like ‘I’m going to fight someone [mindset]’.

“But it’s good training and I would like to [compete] at some point.”
