Conor McGregor has spoken out for the first time since Wayne Lineker revealed the name of the man he had punched in a viral nightclub video.

On Wednesday, a viral clip emerged online showing McGregor brutally punching another man while partying in an Ibiza nightclub in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The two men could be seen talking to each other before the former UFC champion landed two separate punches before others managed to step in and separate the pair.

Although the identity of the other man was not initially known, Ibiza nightclub owner Wayne Lineker, the younger brother of England football legend Gary, later revealed that he was his friend Joe Gomez.

Taking to X, the Irishman explained that the reason that he had been out partying in Ibiza recently was to celebrate the football team for his Dublin pub winning their local league.

He wrote: "To celebrate winning the league I took our Black Forge Inn football squad away on holiday to Ibiza! All expense paid, VIP’s! LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

"Reach out, link up, join a team! Get active! For the sake of your mental health you will thank yourself for doing this!"

The 36-year-old, who who hasn't fought since his TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021, also shared several photos of him and the football team partying during their trip.

Later, McGregor reposted a photo of him and US President Donald Trump during his visit to The White House in March.

McGregor first bought the Black Forge Inn, a pub situated in his hometown of Crumlin, Dublin, in 2019 for a reported fee of $2.2million (£1.6m)

Since then, the Irishman has been heavily involved in promoting the pub and is often seen drinking there with visitors and fans.

According to a report from November 2023, the Black Forge Inn posted $2 million in losses since 2021 opening.

But that didn't stop McGregor from expanding his pub portfolio as he later bought the same venue where he famously punched Des Keogh for refusing to accept a glass of the Irish fighter's Proper No.12 whiskey.

Due to his actions, McGregor was forced to pay a £860 (€1000) fine by the Dublin District Court.

It is believed that McGregor paid between $2 million and $2.5 million (£1.4m to £1.8m) for the Dublin pub and immediately barred Keogh.
