Josh Emmett sends Bryce Mitchell to the shadow realm with scary one-punch knockout

Josh Emmett sends Bryce Mitchell to the shadow realm with scary one-punch knockout

Dana White checked on Bryce Mitchell after the knockout defeat.

Josh Emmett scored a devastating one-punch knockout over Bryce Mitchell to open the UFC 296 main-card.

Emmett produced a terrifying stoppage victory over Mitchell to kick-off the pay-per-view portion of UFC 296.

He landed a big overhand right flush on Mitchell's face in the first round that immediately knocked him out.

The knockout was so bad that UFC CEO Dana White entered the Octagon to check on Mitchell.

"I want to thank Bryce for taking the fight. He took it on two weeks' notice," Emmett told Joe Rogan following his victory.

"I am the most powerful featherweight in the world. It only takes one shot. It’s been a tough year for me.

"There was nothing stopping me from coming back in December. I’m f**king back!"

Emmett returns to the win column having suffered back-to-back defeats to Yair Rodriguez and Ilia Topuria.

Mitchell took the fight on short notice as he replaced the injured Giga Chikadze. He loses the second UFC fight of his career as he moves to 16-2.
