Mark Zuckerberg reacts to Chael Sonnen's claim that he's 'agreed' to fight Elon Musk at UFC 300

Mark Zuckerberg has reacted to Chael Sonnen's outrageous claim that he's 'agreed' to fight Elon Musk at UFC 300.

A blockbuster MMA bout between two of the world's most high-profile technology billionaires has been mooted.

Former UFC star Sonnen has since suggested the boss of Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta has 'agreed' to face the Twitter chief.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, he said Zuckerberg told him he has agreed to fight Musk.

"Zuckerberg contacts me because he saw your tweet that I'm coming on," said the ex-UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight title challenger.

"Zuckerberg has told me that he has agreed to fight Elon Musk at UFC 300 and it was a very big deal."

Sonnen continued by claiming Zuckerberg vs. Musk could generate up to 25 million pay-per-view buys.

"You could for sure do 10 million-plus [pay-per-view buys]. But you could be closer to 20 and 25 [million pay-per-view buys], because what I would predict is both of their companies would start some kind of a digital arm," he added.

"So, all of a sudden, I believe that Twitter would be hosting pay-per-views, and I believe Facebook would, as well. Now you’re talking 25 million views here. That’s insane, what I just said. You could do that if the business shifted and changed a little bit. Sure you could."

However, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg dismissed claims he had a conversation with Sonnen, saying: "I have confirmed with Mark that he did not call Chael Sonnen."

So, Zuckerberg vs. Musk could very well happen at UFC 300 next year for all we know. But one thing's for sure, the Facebook boss HASN'T spoken to Sonnen.

The idea of the two social media titans fighting has also excited UFC president Dana White, who has already set a price for the proposed event and revealed that the money raised would go to charity.
