UFC fighter slammed by fans for Conor McGregor-Caitlyn Jenner joke

His 'joke' went down like a lead balloon.

An MMA fighter's poor joke has backfired massively with fans rushing to the comments section to unload on him.

UFC middleweight Kelvin Gastelum was attempting to take aim at Conor McGregor's recent record inside the octagon, thinking he was funny by comparing the Irishman's last victory to the amount of time Olympic gold medallist Caitlyn Jenner has spent as a woman since transitioning.

Twitter

Only for Gastelum, not many people found his 'joke' funny – not in the slightest.

He tweeted: "The last time @TheNotoriousMMA won a fight Caitlyn Jenner could still pee standing up."

Fans were quick to leap to McGregor and Jenner's defence as the gag went down like a lead balloon.

One person replied: "Not a great comment, do better."

While another simply said: "You were never relevant Kelvin. Lmao."

As one hit back: "Wow, resorting to chasing clout, man I thought you was better than this."

Not only were people pointing out how lame his trash-talking attempt was, but they were also quick to remind Gastelum that his own recent record isn't exactly impressive either.

One social media user commented: "I mean he won in 2020 and bro you’re 1-5 in your last 6, you don’t have much to brag about."

As another added: "Why you talking like you on this massive win steak lmao, barley beat Ian Heinisch."

While a third asked: "Could you remind us of your record in your previous 6 bouts?"

And a fourth chimed in, saying: "He has had one win since 2018, which happens to be the same as you."

Instagram

Fighters calling out McGregor is nothing new, but for usually softly-spoken Gastelum to aim a below-the-belt shot there must be something bubbling beneath the surface – and it appears there is.

Just last week, the former dual-division champion labelled Gastelum an ‘absolute scruff’ after he withdrew from his bout against Nassourdine Imavov due to an apparent mouth injury – although McGregor wasn't buying it.

McGregor posted: “Absolute scruff this thing is. That’s full-on staph infection all over his f*****g face.

“A full f*****g hole omg and it’s his second time to attempt to enter competition like this. Wtf! clean your mats. Wash yourself. F*****g go to the doctor! Scruff.”

Gastelum hit back with a response of his own, but it didn't receive much love.

“Relax u lil leprechaun. The coke and steroids are kicking in,” he responded.
