Team Europe made their fans sweat on the last day of the 2025 Ryder Cup but held on for a 15-13 win at Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York.
The Ryder Cup finale was an unexpected nailbiter after the Europeans took a seven-point lead into the final day.
Team USA clawed back the deficit on a tense and often chippy Sunday of singles matches but Shane Lowry's birdie on the 18th to halve his match against Russell Henley ensured that the holders would retain the trophy and three more halved matches ensured an outright win.
The 45th Ryder Cup was therefore the first time in a decade that the title was retained and had the closest margin of victory since Europe's win in Illinois in 2012.

After days of playing in front of American fans perhaps most generously described as 'vocal', it's little wonder that captain Luke Donald and his European class of 2025 got stuck in when it came to the celebrations.
Their incredible bar bill has to be seen to be believed.
"Luke Donald’s men partied the night away in New York," reports The Sun.

"The Europeans sank some top-notch drink with a price tag which was well over par. A tasty 120 bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial champagne were ordered at a cost of £967 a bottle, which adds up up to £116,109 for the lot.
"Sixty Moet MCIII and 60 Moet Rose Champagnes were also there for everyone to enjoy at a total of £74,053."
But it wasn't all bubbly. Team Europe also tucked in to some high-class spirits along with the team's support staff and families.

"There was also £18,000 worth of high-quality Belvedere Vodka – £1,861 each – and 10 £2,233 limited edition Hennessy 250th Anniversary cognac.
"In addition that haul, each player was offered a special Hennessy Richard Lunar New Year 2025 cognac. They retail at £14,896."
That's £230,000 all in and a famous addition to Team Europe's $30,000 bill after they won the Ryder Cup in Michigan in 2004.

Donald was a rookie player that year and recently revealed that the cost of the team's partying has become legendary at Oakland Hills.
It seems that inflation affects everyone.
