Peter Crouch is kindly asking people on the internet to refrain from sharing footage of his tee shot at a golf course in Weybridge.

The former Liverpool and Spurs striker, a self-confessed golf lover, was recently spotted at the picturesque St George's Hill; a course that has previously been described as "one of the prettiest on the Surrey/Berkshire sand belt".

Unfortunately for the former England international, however, his opening tee shot was far from pretty.

As you can see from the footage below, onlookers watched on in anticipation as Crouch stepped up to take his shot. "He's a golfer - you can tell can't you," said one person in the clip, while another commented: "He's definitely a footballer."

Moments later, Crouch proceeded to shank his drive into the trees, bringing laughter from the small crowd in attendance.

The footage soon found its way onto video sharing platform TikTok, with user bengummery1 sharing the clip alongside a caption that read: "Someone throw Crouchy another ball."

A few hours later and Crouch responded to the video in question on X, formerly Twitter. Taking the shot in his stride, he wrote: "Can everyone not share this pls. Kind regards."

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the shot.

One said: "Don't worry Peter, that's how most of us play golf," while another commented: "We've all done it. I've lost count of the number of 7 irons I've lobbed into a bush."

A third wrote: "Crouchy is that person who just never stops giving, man repeatedly pops up with something which keeps us going for a couple of years and then drops another masterpiece like this one."

A fourth said: "Definitely a footballer," and a fifth added: "The problem with Peter is no one needs to see his face to verify if it's him.. Poor guy lol."

As mentioned earlier, the former England international is a huge fan of golf, but it can get a little frustrating at times.

"I am having golf lessons at the moment and sometimes you hit the ball and you think 'oh, that was sweet'. But they've filmed it and when you watch it back it is just disgusting," he said in 2020.

"I sweep it and make contact and get it out but it is so far away from a golf swing. So ugly. I need to get past the hurdle of knowing I am not going to be top-notch at this and accept a few bad shots.

"When I first started, I thought I was a natural sportsman - football, tennis, ball sports, I'm good at them. I went out and had an absolute nightmare. I was breaking clubs.

"I remember throwing a whole set in a lake. My first set. Well, maybe not the whole set. I threw one, I threw another and then another one. Deep into a lake. I threw another into a tree that even I couldn't reach."

He added: "I had about three holes to play and four clubs in my bag. I couldn't get my head round it. I've got better - nowhere near where I want to be - but I love it."
