Jon Rahm has called time on his spell with LIV Golf but it's set to cost him a breathtaking amount of money.
When Rahm announced his departure from the PGA Tour to join Saudi Arabian breakaway league LIV Golf ahead of the 2024 season back in December 2023, it shocked the golf world.
The then-reigning Masters champion's deal was reportedly set to earn him up to £258million across multiple years, but now Rahm has walked away from the deal to leave LIV Golf, giving up a reported £75.5m.

Jon Rahm loses breathtaking amount of money walking away from LIV Golf
Over the last six months, LIV Golf has been in complete turmoil following confirmation that Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) would withdraw its financial support after the 2026 campaign.

The decision left the future of the breakaway league in doubt, with reports about many of the top players looking for potentially exits rife.
Eventually, a second iteration of LIV Golf was announced, aptly named LIV 2.0, with organisers hoping it would help convince the big players to stay put in the foreseeable future.
But not long after, Rahm decided he'd seen enough, as the 31-year-old labelled the conditions attached to the new format "unacceptable" and chose to end his contract early.
In doing so, the Spaniard agreed to relinquish all monetary and economic claims against the league, essentially waving the money he was set to earn during the remainder of his contract, reportedly a whopping £75.5m.
Rahm, who was LIV's largest unsecured creditor was also owed around £5.7m of his contract, when the organisation filed for bankruptcy last month.
However it isn't all bad for Rahm, as the agreement leaves him free to decide his own future while also regaining full control over his name, image and likeness rights, including his Legion XIII team brand.
The termination agreement is now awaiting formal approval from US Bankruptcy Court of New Jersey Judge Michael B Kaplan, with a hearing scheduled for November 5.
After that, Rahm will be completely free to decide what's next for him, with many fans hoping he could yet return to the PGA Tour.

Bryson DeChambeau future update emerges in new court documents
Other than Rahm, the other major player who has been the face of LIV Golf in recent years is undoubtedly DeChambeau, who joined LIV Golf in June 2022 on a contract reportedly paying £92.5m over multiple years.
As one of the biggest supporters of LIV Golf, it's hard to imagine the American playing anywhere else, but new court documents have revealed that this could absolutely become a reality in the near future.
The documents, which relate to LIV Golf's ongoing bankruptcy filing, revealed that DeChambeau is one of more than a dozen LIV players who have been released from their contracts, leaving their futures in the air.
DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Talor Gooch and Anthony Kim are among the names now free to decide where they'll play golf in 2027.
This means that, although DeChambeau has not yet decided to leave LIV, the news means he absolutely can do now and is free to negotiate with rival leagues without having to accept the financial blows like Rahm has.
That being said, recent reports have suggested that it appears most likely that the 33-year-old will sign on to play on LIV 2.0 for an equity stake in the reconstituted league.
