Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has hinted by omission in a cryptic Instagram Stories statement that he could retire before 2027, as the American’s deadline for DP World Tour membership looms.
The American confirmed that he will play at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in December, but did not elaborate further about his golfing plans in 2027.
Previously, DeChambeau claimed that he would focus on running his YouTube channel when LIV Golf ended, stating: “I’d love to grow my channel three times, maybe more.”

“I’m not going to rewrite the last four years,” began the American. “I made a decision I believed in, and I’m grateful for what came with it.

“I believed this game could reach more people, in more places, in a new way. I still believe that. And I gave it everything I had to keep team golf alive.
The American then thanked the staff, operation crews, caddies and “everyone behind the scenes” at LIV Golf and Crushers GC, before revealing his next event appearance in December.
After the Nedbank Golf Challenger, which runs from December 3 to 6, his professional plans for 2027 weren’t explained, and instead left cryptic in the American’s statement.
“Beyond that, I’ll go about whatever is next the right way,” continued DeChambeau, who added that he wants to play “in front of fans who made my first visit to South Africa unforgettable” at Gary Player’s event.
“My passion has been to grow this game. That’s still the goal. Thank you for sticking with me. Together, we can all grow this great game we love,” concluded the American.
Previously, DeChambeau also invoked growth when discussing his YouTube channel, which possesses over 3 million subscribers, in an interview with ESPN.
When asked where his attention would turn in a future where LIV Golf folds, the American said: "I think, from my perspective, I'd love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more.
"I would love to. I'd love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I'd love to play tournaments that want me."
While the statement’s omission of DeChambeau’s plans for 2027 could be meaningless, the deadline, according to reports, for him to take DP World Tour exemption is fast approaching.

Bryson DeChambeau’s membership deadline for DP World Tour exemption revealed
According to The Telegraph, the ex-LIV Golf star has until November 14 to submit his membership application for the DP World Tour.
From the time of his statement, that gives DeChambeau six more days to take the Tour up, if he hasn’t already, its offer of exemption for 2027.
The two-time US Open champion would have full playing privileges on the European circuit next season, surely to the dismay of long-time golfing enemy Rory McIlroy, through Category 1 exemption.
That exemption is extended to major and Race to Dubai winners in the past seven years, making both Cameron Smith and Jon Rahm – the latter of whom previously announced his intention to return to the DP World Tour full-time — also eligible.
DeChambeau also quoted Arnold Palmer, ranked sixth in SPORTbible’s top-10 greatest-ever golfers list, in his statement.
“Arnold Palmer said no player is bigger than the game,” said the American. “And I want to acknowledge that, along the way, I’ve said some things that didn’t help.
“Whatever comes next, I’ll approach it with humility and respect for the people who carried this game long before me.”
