It has been confirmed that former Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel will get behind the wheel of an F1 car again.

After a career that spanned 15 years, Vettel announced his retirement from F1 at the end of the 2022 season.

During his time with Red Bull, the German won four consecutive world titles from 2010 to 2013.

Vettel said: “The myth of the Nordschleife resonated, even if we 'only' drove the GP track at the time.

“In any case, it will be great fun to drive my RB7 – fuelled with e-fuel – on the Nordschleife as part of a show run.”

He added: “Motorsport is my passion. It's important to me to show that racing cars can run just as well and quickly with synthetic CO2-neutral fuel. And that is already today!”

Fans were quick to react to the news of Vettel’s return.

However, Vettel has since said a comeback was never on the cards.

He said to Sky Germany: “I didn’t even realise what was happening at first. And when I heard what happened, I texted Lance and wished him a quick recovery.

“I never really thought what it could mean. I had a message from Mike on my phone. And we talked a little bit. But a comeback was never an option.”
