An F1 star has been summoned to the FIA ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
Lando Norris has already been dealt a major blow ahead of the 10th race of the calendar, with the Brit and reigning world champion handed a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding the permitted number of engine parts.
Norris’ McLaren will include a new battery, which will be the fourth of the season, more than FIA rules allow.
McLaren tactically took the penalty ahead of the Belgian race as the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is known for easy overtakes.

The race is also the last before McLaren implement the first of two upgrade packages.
Norris comes into the weekend fifth in the drivers’ championship on 97 points, having secured two podiums.
Despite the setback, Norris vowed to be competitive in Belgium, saying: “I hope it’s not the end of my weekend before it has started, but I’m still confident we can have a good race.
“I have to wait and see really how the overtaking is. We probably have a small straight-line speed advantage compared to people a little bit further back. So compared to them, we should have a good chance.
“To just overtake in general could be pretty difficult here, but the slipstream is pretty big and there’s still a few straights, but there’s no straight-line mode, and therefore the slipstream is pretty large, and you can gain a good amount from that.”

F1 star summoned to stewards before Belgian GP
Meanwhile, one of his rivals could be in for a different sanction as Haas’ Esteban Ocon has been summoned to the stewards after arriving late to Thursday’s FIA drivers’ press conference.
The Frenchman, who sits 17th in the drivers’ standings with three points, was scheduled to appear alongside Max Verstappen and Alex Albon but did not arrive in time for the start of the press conference.
“The driver and team representative are required to report to the Stewards at 12:00 Friday July 17 2026, in relation to the incident below,” the summons note read.
“Alleged breach of Article B10.1.1.a of the FIA F1 Regulations – Late attendance of the Thursday Press Conference.”
Article B10.1.1.a states: “Up to six drivers will be selected to participate in official media and promotional activities (as defined by the Media Delegate) for a maximum duration of one (1) hour during a two (2)-hour period, commencing 23 hours prior to the scheduled start of FP1. i. Any driver not taking part in an official FIA Press Conference (as designated by the Media Delegate) must take part in a separate media and broadcast session organised by their team.”
A precedent has already been set, as Charles Leclerc and Norris both received fines of €5,000 each in Monaco, with the sanction suspended for 12 months.
