Yaya Toure's former agent has DENIED suggestions of any illicit payments into the Manchester City star's bank account after the Premier League accused the club of over 100 counts of misconduct.

Dimitri Seluk, who represented the Ivorian midfielder throughout his time with the Premier League side, has quashed talk of "secret payments" that his client was alleged to have received during his time in East Manchester.

Speaking to The Guardian, Seluk told of how all his clients dealings were "transparent" with "nothing on the back side":

“No, everything was transparent, there was nothing on the back side. I am interested to see what happens as this was a surprise. Yaya, of course, paid everything – tax and everything. It was all transparent.”

Seluk went on to add that he would be happy to tell the same information to the independent commission looking into the charges if he was required to:

"Of course. I would tell them the same.”

Seluk's relationship with the Man City fanbase is a strained one, with the agent famously placing a UEFA Champions League 'curse' on Pep Guardiola's side after declaring that the Spaniard "turned all of Africa against himself" with his treatment of Toure during his latter years with the club.

Fans of the club have now convinced themselves that the 'Yaya Toure curse' on City has entered a new phase after the Premier League charged the reigning champions with numerous breaches of financial rules.

But whilst many may have expected Seluk to jump at the opportunity to compound the misery on City and Guardiola, the agent has instead come to the aid of the club in denying any wrongdoing as far as he and his former client are concerned.

The infamous birthday cake saga will live long in the memory of City fans, but there won't be any further altercations with Seluk, not as far as this case is concerned anyway.
