World Cup reporter who was robbed live on air was given choice of how to punish the offender

"Do you want him to be sentenced to five years in prison? Do you want him to be deported?"

A World Cup reporter who was robbed live on air said she was given a choice in how to punish the thief.

In case your memory needs refreshing, last month, when the long-awaited tournament finally kicked off, Argentine reporter Dominique Metzger experienced an unusual encounter.

While conducting a live broadcast from the Corniche area of Doha, items from Metzger's handbag, including money and documents, were nicked by a passerby.

Metzger later reported the incident to the local police and she found the exchange a bit confusing.

In short, she claimed to have been offered the option to choose the punishment she'd like for the perpetrator.

"I went to the station and that was when the cultural differences began," she explained.

"The policewoman said to me, 'We have high-tech cameras everywhere and we are going to locate him [the thief] with face detection. What do you want the justice system to do when we find him?'"

The reporter was faced with quite the predicament.

Rather perplexed at the question, the reporter asked for clarification over what they meant.

The officer is alleged to have replied: "What justice do you want? What sentence do you want us to give him? Do you want him to be sentenced to five years in prison? Do you want him to be deported?"

The question is, what would you do? Would you have opted for the lengthy prison sentence, or have the person deported?

Guess you'll never know unless you're in that unlikely scenario.

Not wanting to get into a Lady Vengeance style situation, Metzger simply asked to have her items returned to her and leave it at that.

From one punishment to another, an OnlyFans star was recently told on social media that her choice of clothing at the World Cup in Qatar could risk her getting executed.

Astrid Wett had been supporting the Three Lions at the tournament and sharing updates on Twitter.

On Saturday (3 December) she shared a snap from the Argentina vs Australia game, which she attended in short black denim shorts, an open shirt and a bikini top.

Fans questioned her choice of clothing at the tournament.

Captioning the post, she wrote 'What a game', and the tweet got more than 4,000 likes; however, in the comments, some people suggested the outfit was ill-advised in the country.

One person sent a GIF which read 'VAR Execution', while another said: "Astrid here is Qatar not England."

And third wrote: "Cover yourself up, respect another country rules and culture."

Astrid was also in attendance at England's first knockout match against Senegal yesterday (Sunday 4 December), where she wore the national team's shirt with pride.
