Sir Keir Starmer has weighed in after England came from behind to reach the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final in dramatic fashion.
After coming from 2-0 down and winning on penalties in a crazy shoot-out against Sweden in the quarter-finals, England went behind to Italy after Barbara Bonansea found the net.
But just when it looked like Sarina Wiegman's side would be heading home, 19-year-old sensation Michelle Agyemang scored a 96th minute equaliser to force extra time.
Then, late in extra time, England were awarded a penalty by referee Ivana Martincic after Beth Mead was dragged to the floor inside the area.

Chloe Kelly stepped up and saw her effort saved - but made no mistake with the rebound and slotted home in the 119th minute to send England to a third consecutive final under Sarina Wiegman.
The Lionesses will now take on the winner of Germany and Spain in the final and immediately after the huge win, the Prime Minister threw his support behind the talented team.
"What a performance, @Lionesses! Into the final and inspiring the nation," Sir Keir wrote.
"Let’s bring it home."

The final at Basel's St Jakob-Park kicks off at 5pm on Sunday and will be shown live on both BBC One and ITV1 in the United Kingdom, with record viewers expected.
England won the tournament on home soil in 2022 when a Kelly extra winner against Germany ended the country's 56-year wait for a major trophy.
Sir Keir Starmer's stance on England bank holiday
They were narrowly beaten by Spain in the Women's World Cup final in 2023 and prior to the final, Starmer pushed for a bank holiday.

At the time, the 62-year-old was merely leader of the opposition but called for the-then Conservative government to make the decision in the event silverware was lifted.
"They have already done us proud, but if they win it will be a truly historic achievement - one that should be marked with a proper day of celebration, where clubs can open and promote access for women and girls."
England just fell short but this time around, Arsenal season ticket holder Starmer, having been the Prime Minister for around a year after Labour won the 2024 General Election, has the power to honour the potential achievement.

Just days after coming into power, Starmer dropped a hint for a bank holiday if England won the men's Euros final over Spain in Germany but it didn't come to fruition after Mikel Oyarzabal sealed a 2-1 win for La Roja.
Before a ball is kicked, Weigman has already set an incredible record after she became the first manager in the history of men's or women's football to reach five consecutive major tournament finals - made up of two with her native Netherlands and three with England.
