Key details on Premier League game West Ham vs Man City

Manchester City travel to the London Stadium this afternoon to kick off their title defence against West Ham.

City come into this one off the back of disappointment in the Community Shield final last Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side lost 3-1 to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium, despite dominating the game for large periods.

New Manchester City forward Erling Haaland will be hoping for better luck this time around after missing a number of glorious chances in the match.

As for West Ham, they come into this one brimming with confidence.

After a fantastic 2021/22 season, David Moyes has further strengthened his squad and the Hammers will be looking to improve on their 7th place finish.

The game can also be streamed on the Sky Go app.

The game kicks off at 4:30pm (BST) at the London Stadium. Coverage begins on Sky at 4pm.

West Ham team news

David Moyes has revealed West Ham’s marquee striker signing of the summer Gianluca Scamacca won’t be considered for a start today despite being injury free.

The Scottish manager has encouraged Hammers fans to offer the Italian forward patience.

West Ham will also be without new centre-back Nayef Aguerd who has a slight ankle issue.

Angelo Ogbonna is also set to miss out despite making strong progress in his recovery from his long-term knee injury.

A debut could be on the cards for Flynn Downes, but the match will come too soon for Maxwel Cornet who was signed from Burnley on Friday.

Manchester City team news

City come into this one with a couple of injury concerns at the back.

Aymeric Laporte is nursing a knee injury which will keep him out till September while John Stones is a doubt due to a lack of match fitness.

Unfortunately for West Ham though, apart from those two absentees, Pep Guardiola has a fully fit squad to choose from.

All eyes on Erling Haaland for this one.
