One of Leicester City's backroom staff was sent to the stands during their first leg quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid.

And the reasoning behind his red card is bizarre to say the least.

The Foxes were beaten by the solitary goal courtesy of a Antoine Griezmann's spot-kick. Though the awarding of the penalty was highly controversial.

It appeared Marc Albrighton made contact with the player outside of the box but the Swedish referee took no time to point to the spot.

The French ace coolly converted the penalty to give his side the lead. And the goal proved to be the only difference between the sides ahead of their second leg next week.

Craig Shakespeare's charges will feel confident heading back to the King Power Stadium trailing by just the one goal.

While the debated penalty decision remains one of the main takeaways from the game, the clubs sports scientist also garnered plenty of attention.

Tom Joel was sent to the stands for serving the Leicester players energy sachets, which was subject to complaints from Atleti.

Though his dismissal may be as a result of handing out the liquid goodness right in front of the hosts dug-out, and outside of his technical area.

Don't expect to see Tom prowling the touchline next week.
