Vinicius Junior had the perfect message after Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid following the vile mannequin taunt ahead of the clash.

The Madrid derby was clouded with controversy after Atletico ultras hung a doll wearing a Vinicius Jr Real shirt from a bridge ahead of kick-off.

They also unfurled a banner, which read 'Madrid hates Real'. The vile taunt was condemned by the club before the Copa del Rey fixture on Thursday.

But the Brazil star had the last laugh as his side went onto secure a spot in the next round of the competition after a 3-1 victory at the Bernabeu.

He even got on the score-sheet, bagging a terrific goal in the closing stages of the match.

And after the big win, the 22-year-old took to social media to fire back at the pre-match taunt.

On Instagram, he uploaded a picture of himself celebrating his goal, accompanied with the defiant caption: "Vini LOVES MADRID. There is only one!"

Vinicius Jr has now scored 12 goals in all competitions this season as he enjoys yet another prolific campaign following a sensational term last season.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti praised his star man's showing in the Madrid derby as he hit out at the shocking stunt.

"There wasn’t anything different for Vinicius, he was focused on the match, he wanted to play. He was very excited, eager to return to his fans. He played a very good game, fighting until the end," he said after the result.

Ancelotti added: "The goal was the reward for the great work he did. What happened was lamentable, but he was focused on the match."

Los Blancos will face either Barcelona, Osasuna or Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals for a spot in the Copa del Rey final.

Vinicius Jr and Co, meanwhile, resume their La Liga campaign on Sunday when they host Real Sociedad.
