Vincent Kompany’s spine-tingling message to his Burnley squad during their first meeting has re-emerged on social media after his stunning run of success.

The Manchester City legend, who previously managed Anderlecht, succeeded Sean Dyche at Turf Moor after Burnley were relegated from the Premier League.

Kompany has been hailed for his impact at Burnley in his debut season, with the Clarets top of the Championship after 29 matches.

The 36-year-old former City captain has led Burnley on an eight-match unbeaten run recently, including a 3-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

Footage of Kompany’s incredible speech to the Burnley players, which can be viewed in the video player above, has started to make the rounds again.

“My passion is scoring goals. And again, I’m a defender. I know I used to be, but my passion is scoring goals,” Kompany told the players in the clip.

“My passion is having teams who are looking at every opportunity to score goals. It means every phase of the game we have a plan, we have an idea to score a goal.

“I don’t care if it’s a defensive throw-in or a corner we’re defending, we clear it, we try and get on the other end and score.

“I don’t care whether we’re building up from the goalkeeper. And I know and I’ll show you a couple of images when we go to the meeting.

“I know that the build-up it’s like a fetish. Everybody saying like, ‘Well, I want to be a build-up team.’

“And I think, ‘You know what? Let’s just for this guy in that position, this guy in that position and spread out.’

“It’s not what it is. It’s not enough. So, I’ll try and explain to you and you have to just bear with me in the moments where it’s frustrating because it’s a lot of meetings, it’s a lot of information.

“Just bear with me just for the time that we get over that hurdle, but we’re able to execute without thinking about it.”

Fans were left in awe at Kompany’s aura in the meeting, with supporters believing that he’s destined to ‘reach the top.’

“Next Man City manager,” one fan simply said.

Another tweeted: “I could listen to Vincent Kompany talk about football all day long.”

“Pep has created some MONSTERS coming through as managers,” a third posted.

One Twitter user commented: “A chip off the old block.”

While somebody else wrote: “Look at this, this what I call a plan, an idea. This guy has learnt over the years and he is passing that same knowledge across, Burnley [are] cooking.”
