Fans are loving Trent Alexander Arnold’s performance for England.

On Friday night, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions travelled to the Ta’ Qali stadium as they faced Malta in the Euro 2024 qualifying round.

Prior to kick-off, one of the main talking points was how Alexander Arnold will perform in a more advanced midfield role.

Within 10 minutes, the Liverpool man showed exactly what he is capable of as he played a scrumptious pass in behind for Bukayo Saka.

The Arsenal winger then played the ball into the Malta box, which ended in an own goal by Ferdinando Apap.

In the 28th minute, Alexander Arnold got himself on the score sheet with a stunning effort from long range.

Alexander Arnold then also had a hand in the third goal as he won possession back in the final third before Harry Kane was fouled inside the penalty area.

Fans were absolutely loving Alexander Arnold’s performance as they reacted on social media.

One said: “This is why you start Trent Alexander-Arnold. Generational player. Easily one of England’s best players. Controlled this game.”

Another tweeted: “Trent Alexander Arnold is generational and people need to realise it.”

A third fan added: “Trent is absolutely cooking in that midfield role, goodness me.”

Someone else wrote: “Let me watch this fully-fledged Trent Alexander-Arnold midfield masterclass.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “What a performance from Trent Alexander Arnold.”

Ahead of the match, Southgate spoke about Alexander Arnold’s potential new role.

He said: “Well, let’s see! You know that I think he is more than capable of playing there and it can be really exciting. If we were to do that, we would not be expecting perfection.

“There’s a lot to learn, particularly without the ball. It is different areas of the pitch. With the ball, that is a more straightforward transition for him. He has been playing there a little bit more for his club so it is something for us to consider, definitely.”
