West Brom Reject Bid From Leicester City For Jonny Evans

West Brom Reject Bid From Leicester City For Jonny Evans

Should West Brom have taken the money or were they right to turn the offer down from Leicester?

At 29 years-old Jonny Evans is only just hitting his peak and he's already had one hell of a career but his move to Leicester City has been denied by West Brom as he's 'not for sale.'

Not only is Jonny Evans a three times winner of the Premier League but he is also a former winner of the FIFA World Club Cup, not bad for someone considered distinctly average.

Evans certainly wouldn't be the first person most fans of the Premier League named a multiple time Premier League winner, not even Manchester United fans.

The Northern Irishman probably isn't the worst player to have won a league winners medal but based on the defence of their title some of the Leicester City players might have been.

The Foxes obviously thought that this summer they could strengthen their side by signing the experienced Evans from their midlands 'rivals.'

According to the Mail the former Premier League champs made a £10 million bid for Evans but had it turned down by Tony Pulis with the Baggies saying the player isn't for sale.

Of course every player has his price so it's still a possibility that Craig Shakespeare could go back in for the former Sunderland loanee.

After a poor season defending their title Leicester are back to being just another club in the mid-lower table battle.

The new manager wants to re-energise his defence after the likes of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth underperformed last season, especially compared to their title winning campaign.

Today the Foxes had a £17 million deal for Hull City centre-back Harry Maguire accepted by the Tigers, who were relegated back down to the Championship.

Leicester's move for Evans came before the Maguire deal was accepted and at 24 the Englishman might be the better investment.

Despite his club being relegated Maguire was very impressive for them last season.

West Brom will be determined to keep hold of Evans especially after losing the experience of Darren Fletcher to Stoke City.
