Manchester United could use Alexis Sanchez as part of their summer move for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, according to reports in Spain.

The Premier League club are favourites to sign Sancho in the summer though he won't be cheap even with clubs losing out on money due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

United could attempt to bring the price down by offering players in exchange and according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo they're willing to offer unwanted forward Sanchez as part of the deal.

The report does question whether the Bundesliga side could afford the Chilean's wages but it's possible United could continue to cover some of that cost.

Sancho fits in with United's plans of signing young, talented players and they are in need of more options in attack, especially on the right.

The 20-year-old has been a revelation in Germany since breaking into the Dortmund first team, following his £8 million move from Manchester City in 2017.

This season the England forward has scored 14 goals in the Bundesliga and provided 16 assists for Lucian Favre's side, as they try to catch rivals Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

On the other hand former Barcelona forward Sanchez doesn't necessarily seem to fit with Dortmund's usual transfer policy of buying young, improving a player and selling for huge profit.

However they do have some recent history in the shape of Pablo Alcacer of signing older players in a slump and seeing them excel. 31-year-old Mats Hummels also returned to the club from Bayern last summer for big money.

At 31 himself Sanchez might not seem like the ideal signing for Favre's team but if they can get the best out of him he'd be a good replacement for their potentially departed young forward.

The former Arsenal player has been on loan at Inter from United this season but injuries have stopped him reaching his peak form, which hasn't been seen since he left the Emirates.

It's highly unlikely that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will find a place for him in the squad next season and the Old Trafford boss would likely love to replace him with Sancho, so a swap deal would be perfect for them.
