Ilaix Moriba's future at Barcelona took a new twist, as the club dropped him from the reserve team amidst the player's continued decision not to sign a new contract.

Moriba made his debut for Ronald Koeman's team last season and made 14 appearances during the league season, including four starts.

The 18-year-old impressed and is certainly one to look out for as the latest star coming through their La Masia youth academy.

However the teenager's contract is due to expire next summer and so far he's turned down any approach from the club to sign a new deal.

Moriba was dropped to the club's B team training camp in Vall d'en Bas, Catalonia, due to his refusal to sign but on Wednesday he wasn't even part of the squad.

Barca B beat UE Olot 3-1 but Moriba wasn't even allowed on the bench, as he continues to be punished for not signing.

Speaking on Monday, at Emmerson Royal's transfer presentation, Barcelona president Joan Laporte confirmed his tough stance on Moriba.

"We will try to make sure that his case is not repeated anymore. He has one year left on his contract and does not want to accept the club's conditions. We do not accept that and we want to send a message to the team.

"If you do not want to renew, we have other solutions. What we don't want are players made at La Masia who don't want to renew. He's a player we've given opportunities, but the club is above all. I would like you [Moriba] to think again.

"We cannot allow him to be promoted and then leave. We won't accept that with any player."

The contract issues have caused Moriba to be the subject of vile racist abuse, the player revealed whilst on Tik Tok.

He is reportedly said to have suitors in the Premier League, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all interested in signing him, and he will be able to talk to clubs in January about a move.

The Blues have reportedly already spoken to the player's agent and are willing to offer a 'succulent commission' for the player's agent and father, as well as give him a big signing on bonus and boost to his wages.
