Barcelona look set to bolster their defence after the departure of Dani Alves to Juventus, by swooping for Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti.
Umtiti, who can play at either left-back or centre-half, had been linked with Roma, Arsenal and Chelsea but, according to French website LeDauphine.com, the 22-year-old has agreed terms on a deal to take him to the Camp Nou.
It is believed the France U21 international, who is yet to represent his country at full international level, is going to set the La Liga champions back roughly 30m euros. He has been named in Didier Deschamps' squad for Euro 2016, however, and could yet make his debut at the tournament.
Javier Mascherano continues to be linked away from Catalonia as his tax problems continue to rumble on and Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu has hardly inspired confidence when called upon to be the first choice partner for Gerard Pique in Luis Enrique's team, which has accelerated the need for a new defender at the Camp Nou. Everton's John Stones and PSG's Marquinhos have also been linked with the Spanish champions.
