Manchester City Earn €800,000 From Barcelona's Win Against Getafe

It's been a pretty good day for Manchester City after their 6-0 win over Watford and now a bonus from Barcelona.

What a day for Manchester City it's turning out to be. Pep Guardiola's side ran rampant against Watford in a very impressive 6-0 win and saw one of their rivals drop yet more points, now they're set to earn €800,000 from Barcelona.

Last season City started their year by winning 10 games in a row and got everyone excited for a title push but their form dropped off and they eventually finished third. This season they've already dropped points but things are looking even better.

Pep Guardiola made his team even more threatening as a forward unit this season and that was proved to be the case last week when they beat Feyenoord 4-0 in the Champions League with a front five of De Bruyne, Silva, Silva, Jesus and Aguero!

On Saturday they went even better beating Watford 6-0 to go top of the league. Before the match both sides knew that a win would take them top but City were just too good from the start and the Hornets had no chance.

But City's day is to get even better as, reported by Goal, they will earn €800,000 from the Barcelona game as former youth player Denis Suarez made his 40th appearance for the La Liga side.

Suarez was a youth player at Barcelona, moved to City and then moved back to the Camp Nou. Image: PA

It's all because the deal that took him back to Spain in 2013 included a clause that means for every 10 games he plays, up to 100 games, the La Liga side owe City £720k.

The Catalans only paid €3.2 million initially to sign him back from the Citizens and have so far paid €6.4m but that fee could eventually rise another €4.8 million if the 23 year-old plays another 60 times.

Barcelona probably won't mind paying the extra if the player continues to score important goals as he did today. The Spaniard came on as a second half substitute and scored an equaliser against Getafe before Paulinho scored a very late winner.

For City though it's decent money for doing no work!
