Barcelona 'Finalising Package' To Finally Sign Philippe Coutinho

It looks like the longest transfer saga going is about to come to an end.

I might whisper this quietly incase I jinx it but...Philippe Coutinho might finally be off to Barcelona. The La Liga club are thought to be closing in on an agreement with Liverpool for the Brazilian midfielder.

I've been able to feel myself getting older as Philippe Coutinho's transfer saga has gone on and it's only been going on for the past seven months.

Back in the summer Barcelona were as desperate to sign Coutinho from Liverpool as Liverpool were to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton. Both offered lots of money, both players wanted to leave and both buying clubs were left frustrated.

Van Dijk got his move on New Year's Day and now it looks like Coutinho is going to get his 'sooner rather than later' according to Goal's Liverpool correspondent Melissa Reddy.

According to the report Barcelona are 'finalising their offer' with the package believed to be worth more than €150 million and the deal will go through this transfer window, rather than in time for the 2018/19 season as was initially a possibility.

The price will be around an initial €120 million with another €40 million coming to Anfield after numerous performance and appearances bonus are added on, which will all likely be met.

That fee will make Coutinho the third highest transfer in history, only behind Neymar's move to PSG last summer and Kylian Mbappe's eventual transfer to the French club this summer coming.

The former Inter man accepted the club's decision not to sell him in the summer and has knuckled down to score seven Premier League goals and put on six assists so far this season.

The Reds tried to persuade him to stay and offered him more money but his decision to leave had been made having failed to win any silverware at Anfield, it seems like he will soon get his move.

Farewell this transfer saga, or at least I hope so...
