There's set to be a big shake-up at Barcelona following the arrival of new head coach Ernesto Valverde as he stamps his own identity on his squad.

Valverde will be bringing in new talent in order to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign, as well as booting players out to make room for new signings.

And it appears the summer clear out has begun. According to Turkish outlets, the new Barcelona boss has deemed Arda Turan surplus to requirements who's allowed to leave the club.

And per Haberturk via Turkish Football, Arsenal are ready to pounce. The report even claims that Arsenal 'are on the verge' of securing a deal with Barcelona for Turan.

Valverde, who was officially unveiled as Barcelona coach earlier in the week, has notified the board that Turan is free to leave the club in the summer.

The 30-year-old joined the Camp Nou from fellow-La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in 2015 for £24 million, though despite winning the title in his debut season, he only played 18 league games.

Arsenal have been in contact with the players agent, Ahmet Bulut, for several months now as they hope to tie down a deal.

As well as the Gunners, many Chinese Super League sides are also monitoring his situation. Though Bulut remains defiant that his client will not be joining the Far East movement.

Despite having three-years on his current contract, Turan has grown frustrated of a lack of regular first-team football and has flirted with the idea of playing in the Premier League for some time.

Turan was dropped from the last four games of the La Liga season not to mention the Spanish Cup final even though he was declared match fit.

Arsenal set to test Barcelona's resolve as they are expected to table an £25 million offer for the experienced Turkish international.
