Xabi Alonso has reportedly decided on his first three signings as he continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Last summer, the former Spain midfielder was linked with the likes of Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

However, Alonso pledged his immediate future to Bayer Leverkusen after a wonderful season that led to the Bundesliga title.

As the summer approaches, it has been widely reported that Alonso is set to leave Leverkusen and take over from Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plenttenberg wrote on social media: "BREAKING EXCL | It’s now official and decided: Xabi #Alonso has informed Bayer 04 Leverkusen that he will leave the club at the end of the season. He is set to join Real Madrid!

"Alonso may announce it himself at today’s press conference."

Speaking about his future on Friday afternoon, Alonso himself confirmed his exit, he said: "The club and I have agreed that these two last games will be my last as Bayer Leverkusen coach."

Ahead of the transfer window, it has been claimed that Alonso has picked out three positions he would like the club to strengthen in.

Madrid are likely to add Trent Alexander-Arnold to their squad after the full-back announced his decision to leave Liverpool on Monday.

As reported by Spanish news outlet MARCA, Madrid are also looking to add a left back, centre back and a midfielder to their ranks.

It has been suggested that Bournemouth youngster Dean Huijsen is the main centre-back target.

After an impressive season in the Premier League, Huijsen has been linked with the likes of Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Madrid have had a poor season so far after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal at the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, they are currently four points behind Barcelona in the race to become La Liga champions, with the pair of rivals set to face off this weekend.
