Newcastle United could have the opportunity to make a stunning swap deal amid the reported interest in Sandro Tonali.
After what was a quiet transfer window for Newcastle United, things suddenly changed on deadline day as reports emerged suggesting that Arsenal were launching a late move for star midfielder Tonali.
The reports were quickly dismissed by Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, who claimed that they held no talks with Arsenal over a transfer.
However, since then rumours surrounding the Italian midfielder's future at St James' Park have continue to circulate, with it widely expected that several top Premier League club will consider a move in the summer.

And should one club in particular make a formal offer, a new report has revealed that Newcastle may use the chance to secure one of their top targets in a swap deal.

With Tonali's recent performances demonstrating that he is perhaps one of the best midfielders currently playing in the Premier League, it's no surprise that several clubs are interested in securing his signature.
Among the clubs believed to be weighing up a move are Premier League champions Liverpool, with the Reds viewing him as a perfect stylistic fit for how they want to play.
According to TeamTalk, if Liverpool decide to formalise a move for Tonali in the summer, then Newcastle could counter the offer with a deal that would involve Curtis Jones going the other way.
Like Tonali, questions were raised about Jones' future in the final days of the transfer window amid reports that the 25-year-old Liverpool academy graduate had fallen out with manager Arne Slot.
Because of this, it is widely expected that there will be several club enquiring about Jones in the summer, with Newcastle said to be chief among them as they view the Liverpudlian as their perfect replacement for Tonali, should he decide to leave.
The report claims that the Magpies have a longstanding interest in the six-times capped England international and believe he could fill the role that either Tonali or Joelinton currently occupy.
As it stands, Jones' contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2027, meaning Liverpool will likely be eager to let him leave the club this summer should they decide against offering him a new deal.
Meanwhile, Tonali's deal with Newcastle lasts until 2029, with the option of an additional year, meaning Newcaslte can demand a large fee for the Italian, regardless if they include Jones in a swap deal or not.

However, Newcastle aren't the only club believed to be interested in signing Jones, as Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur could also make a move in the summer.
Likewise, Liverpool will be far from the only club to ask questions about Tonali's future, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Serie A giants Juventus all interested.
