Juventus chief mocks Man Utd over Gleison Bremer interest and says exactly what it will take to sign Brazilian

Juventus chief mocks Man Utd over Gleison Bremer interest and says exactly what it will take to sign Brazilian

The Juventus sporting director has discussed the future of Gleison Bremer.

Manchester United will undoubtedly be active this summer in the transfer market - but have been mocked by the Juventus sporting director.

Defence has been a headache for Erik ten Hag this season, with United's back line this campaign having been ravaged by injuries.

United have been forced into multiple different centre-half partnerships and back four combinations after losing countless defenders to injuries throughout the course of the season.

First choice central defender Lisandro Martinez recently returned to action once again, after a stop-start campaign due to injury.

It has been confirmed that World Cup winner Raphael Varane will depart Old Trafford when his contract expires this summer, three years after he joined the club from Real Madrid.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have also had spells out this campaign, with question marks surrounding both of their long-term futures at Old Trafford.

Veteran Jonny Evans, who rejoined United last summer on a free transfer, is realistically United's fifth choice centre-half, but has featured frequently owing to injuries to others.

The likes of holding midfielder Casemiro and youngster Willy Kambwala have also been forced to play in the heart of United's defence owing to the lack of fit personnel there this campaign.

With Varane leaving and questions marks over the likes of Maguire, Lindelof and Evans, United will for sure need reinforcements in central defence if they are to close the gap to the top of the Premier League.

And according to Italian publication La Gazetta Dello Sport, Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is among their targets.

The 27-year-old Brazil international has eight goals in 82 games for La Vecchia Signora since joining the club in 2022, and recently picked up the Coppa Italia as Juventus beat Atalanta.

Now, Juventus sporting director has described Bremer as "untouchable" and that only an offer of €100million (£86m) would tempt the Italian side to sell.

He said: "Bremer, Vlahovic and Cambiaso are untouchable, the others can be reasoned with. These are assessments that will be up to the new coach given that Allegri’s adventure is over.

"Not for the 60 million of the clause, a hundred would be needed. I am convinced that he will stay in Turin: Juve will play the Champions League and the Club World Cup, what would he do at United?”

United face a real struggle to play in European competition next season, with a place in either the Europa League of Europa Conference League on offer, depending on where Ten Hag's side finish in the Premier League or if they beat Manchester City in next weekend's FA Cup final.
