Al Nassr are planning an ambitious bid to sign two Manchester United players after being given the backing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

United are keen to offload several senior players to ease Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns and free up funds for future signings.

United football director John Murtough flew to Saudi Arabia in December to hold talks over potential sales.

He spoke with Saudi Pro League chiefs about both January and summer deals and that move may be about to pay off for the Premier League club.

According to the Daily Mail, Saudi club Al Nassr are keen to sign two United players – Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Casemiro, 32, is currently United's top earner on £375,000-a-week but has struggled this season and has not played since the start of November due to a hamstring injury.

It is claimed United are open to selling him this summer if they can recoup a large percentage of the £70m fee paid to Real Madrid to sign him last year.

"Al Nassr are understood to be ready to make Casemiro a huge offer with encouragement from his former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo," added the report.

It is claimed that Al Nassr could also try to make a move for Wan-Bissaka this month.

The Saudi club had a £20m bid for Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal rejected last week and have now turned their attention to Wan-Bissaka.

It follows reports United have turned down an offer of a swap deal for Wan-Bissaka from Inter Milan, which would have seen Denzel Dumfries head to Old Trafford.

United triggered a 12-month extension in Wan-Bissaka’s contract earlier this month, having opted not to offer the defender a new long-term deal.

The defender's representatives have since held further contract talks with United but the outcome was "not positive", according to the Mail.

Wan-Bissaka’s former club Crystal Palace and West Ham have also expressed an interest in the defender but are unlikely to be able to match Al Nassr financially.

Speaking earlier this month, Erik ten Hag admitted United were unlikely to make any major signings this month, with the bulk of their transfer business set to be outgoings.

Speaking to the United We Stand fanzine, Ten Hag said: "I don't think [we need to bring in any new players in January] — and, if so, the approach from United should be that if you can improve your team, then you should do.

"What we expect from every player coming to Carrington every day is for them to give their maximum, to give their best.

"As a club, you have to look for improvements, so if you can find better and it’s realistic financially and with financial fair play, I think the club has to go with it.

"But realistically, in relation to the market, most of the time you don’t attract the best players in the winter. The top, top players will not leave their clubs in the winter. It's players who are disappointed, injured or just not the right fit or whatever."
