Marcel Sabitzer has told Man Utd why they should complete move for Bayern Munich star

Marcel Sabitzer has heaped praise on a reported Manchester United target

Marcel Sabitzer has already told Manchester United why they should sign a Bayern Munich star.

It has been a poor season so far for United as they currently sit eighth in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s men have also been dumped out of Europe altogether after a dismal Champions League campaign resulted in them finishing bottom of their group.

Now, with the January transfer window in full flow, United have been linked with many names as they look for an opportunity to improve their squad.

One of the names being linked with a move to Old Trafford is Bayern frontman Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

It has been reported that the 34-year-old has agreed to join United on a six-month loan deal.

Speaking last year, former United midfielder Sabitzer has already made his feelings clear on why Choupo-Moting would be a good addition.

The Austrian said of Choupo-Moting to Prime Video DE via iMiaSanMia: “Choupo has always had his qualities.

“He may not always have gotten the rhythm he needed. With how he’s doing now, he’s our clear #9. He deserved it. We’re all happy for him, he’s a good guy for the team.”

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has also had his say on Choupo-Moting.

He said: “Bayern Munich striker Eric Choupo-Moting is one of many names being discussed internally. It’s nothing concrete, nothing advanced yet.

“Still, Bayern have Harry Kane and Mathys Tel as options up front, so obviously there’s not so much space for Choupo-Moting and Man United have been informed of his situation. At the moment it’s not a negotiation, from what I’m told, but it may become one to watch.”

United spent big on the likes of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana during the summer transfer window.

As a result, the Old Trafford club are working with a restricted budget due to fears of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.
