Fabrizio Romano reveals full details of Man City's huge failed bid for Lucas Paqueta

Manchester City are reportedly interested in West Ham star Lucas Paqueta

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the details behind Manchester City’s huge bid for West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta.

On Tuesday night, it was reported by Brazilian news outlet ge globo that City have made a huge offer of £70 million for Paqueta.

It has been claimed that West Ham are reluctant to part ways with their Brazilian star and will be asking for more than the £70 million that City offered.

According to Football Insider, West Ham are ready to accept a bid of more than £80 million for Paqueta.

Now, transfer specialist Romano has tweeted an update regarding the Paqueta deal.

He wrote: “Manchester City have concrete interest in Lucas Paquetá. Talks took place with West Ham this week.

“Not an easy negotiation but City have added him to summer targets list, as @marcoconterio @geglobo reported.”

Romano added: “More on Lucas Paquetá. Man City have approached West Ham with verbal discussion over £70m package, not enough.

“Deal not easy but City will try again. Guardiola, always been fan of Paquetá. Player keen after he picked Roc Nation Brazil as new agents recently.”

Last summer, Paqueta joined West Ham from French Ligue 1 side Lyon in a club record £51 million deal.

Since then, he has played a big part in David Moyes’ team, having scored five and assisted seven in 43 matches across all competitions.

Paqueta was also a regular starter for Brazil during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It has been a relatively quiet window so far for City, having only brought in Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

Over the last few weeks, there have been speculations regarding the futures of Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva.

However, it looks like that both Walker and Silva will stay put at the Etihad Stadium ahead of the new season.

City will get their Premier League season started on Friday night against Burnley.
