Jordan Henderson’s reported salary at Ajax is set to be lower than a Premier League flop.

During the summer transfer window, Henderson ended his time as a Liverpool player by signing for Saudi Professional League side Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

As Liverpool skipper, Henderson got his hands on the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the FA Community Shield.

However, after just six months with Al Ettifaq, it was reported earlier in the month that Henderson wanted to leave and return to the Premier League.

This week, it has been widely reported that Henderson could be on the verge of joining Dutch side Ajax after he reached an agreement to leave Al Ettifaq.

Henderson will reportedly take a huge pay cut to make his move back to European football.

According to talkSPORT, the Englishman is set to take 75% off his £8 million per year salary at Al Ettifaq to join Ajax.

This means that Henderson could be set to earn £2 million per year at the Dutch club, which will put him fourth on the list of highest earners at Ajax.

According to Salary Sport, former Tottenham Hotspur forward Steven Bergwijn takes home a yearly salary of £3.9 million, making him the top earner at the club.

Bergwijn is closely followed by striker Brian Brobbey, who has a reported salary of £3.74 million.

In third place is midfielder Steven Berghuis, who earns £3.22 million per year.

Providing an update on Henderson’s move to Ajax, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on social media: “Jordan Henderson, set to travel to Amsterdam before the weekend to complete Ajax move. All parties are working to iron out final details of the contract today.

“Medical being prepared, waiting on approval to proceed. After story revealed last week, deal almost there”
