Toney has a clear preference.

Ivan Toney has already revealed his favourite Premier League sides, with the Brentford striker linked with a move to both Manchester United and Chelsea before Friday's deadline.

According to a report from The Standard, United have initiated talks with Brentford regarding a potential late summer transfer for Toney.

Despite this, Toney is reportedly more inclined to join Chelsea, and Sky Sports notes that Enzo Maresca's team has made an official bid for the England international.

However, both Premier League sides are unlikely to match the substantial £400,000 per week salary that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli is reportedly offering Toney.

Toney is yet to make an appearance for Brentford this season, with Thomas Frank not selecting the England international in his first two Premier League squads.

Although the 28-year-old is highly sought after within the Premier League, neither of his two 'favourite' clubs have come in for him so far.

Last year Toney joined British entrepreneur Steven Bartlett on the Diary Of A CEO podcast and revealed his ideal transfer plans for the future [this summer]

"Whenever that time comes, my time at Brentford has been good; one of the best times of my career," he explained.

Toney went on to say that when he does move, then the next club would be "the right one".

Bartlett was quick to question his statement, saying: "When you say the right club, you're not talking about Liverpool, are you? I heard you're a Liverpool fan..."

Toney replied: “I have been a Liverpool fan my whole life, but I have liked Arsenal... I like watching Arsenal and how they play and kind of how passionate the fans are.

"But, yeah, Liverpool fan, Liverpool boy at heart," he confirmed.

Rather unfortunately for Toney, the two English clubs that look the most likely to strike a deal with Brentford are clubs with deep-rooted rivalries with Arsenal and Liverpool.

With the race for Toney still far from done, it's anyone's guess where the England star will end up come the weekend.
