Arsenal and Spurs given new deadline for Eberechi Eze transfer as third club emerges in race

Eze has been persistently linked with a move away from Crystal Palace this summer.

Arsenal and Tottenham have been given a new deadline to sign Eberechi Eze - with a third club now reportedly involved in the race to sign him.

The 27-year-old has scored 29 goals in the Premier League in the past three seasons and is one of English football's top attacking midfielders.

He helped Palace to win the FA Cup last season and thus qualify for European football for the first time in the club's history.

Though the Eagles have been demoted to the Conference League due to a breach of multi-club ownership rules, having initially qualified for the Europa League, the club have managed to keep hold of all of their key players.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now in advanced talks to sign Palace captain Marc Guehi for between £30-35 million.

The difference with Guehi, however, is that the England defender is entering the final year of his contract.

Eze still has two years left on his deal, which contains a release clause worth £68 million.

According to reports, that release clause expires on Friday, August 15 - giving Arsenal and Spurs under 48 hours to finalise a transfer if they do not want to pay a significantly higher fee.

The Telegraph now claim that a further complication has emerged for both clubs, with Newcastle now showing interest in the 27-year-old midfielder.

The Magpies are close to agreeing a deal to sign midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, which would potentially dampen any interest in Eze.

And it is added that he may stay at Palace until after their Conference League third-round qualifiers on August 21 and 28.

For the player's part, there does not appear to be any indication that he wants to depart Palace this summer.

Eze was signed by the south London side in 2020, having shined in the Championship with Queens Park Rangers.

He earned full England honours in 2021 and has been a regular part of squads since Thomas Tuchel was appointed as manager at the beginning of the year.

However, The Guardian report that, were a deal to be struck between Palace and either Arsenal or Spurs, Eze would prefer a move to Arsenal.

He was part of the Gunners' academy before the age of 13, but was released by the club.

He then had spells at Fulham, Reading and Millwall, but was released by the Lions aged 18 after failing to earn a professional contract.
