Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea and fans are divided by his value

Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea and fans are divided by his value

Conor Gallagher could be on his way out of Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly targeting a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

After a torrid 22/23 season, Spurs are now looking to rebuild their squad under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

To date, the North London club have already made four new additions. James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario were purchased whilst Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro’s loan deals were made permanent.

Now, according to the Daily Telegraph, Spurs are eyeing a move for Chelsea’s Gallagher as a potential replacement for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked with a move to Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

The report claimed that although new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino likes Gallagher, he could sanction a sale to raise funds to make his own signings.

It is believed that Chelsea have valued Gallagher at £50 million, which has divided fans on social media.

One said: “If Chelsea pull off £50m for Gallagher, they may be the greatest sellers in football history. Almost feel bad for Spurs.”

Another tweeted: “All of a sudden 55m for mason mount was a steal.”

A third fan added: “I would put a sell on clause I see him selling for £70m in the future.”

Someone else wrote: “This guy is worth 15 to 25 million how come every player these days now carries 50 million as a price tag.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “If Poch is still a fan, why are dey still asking for 50mil?? Why not just reject the offer?”

If Gallagher does end up moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he will be the first player from Chelsea that Spurs have paid for since Gus Poyet in 2001.

In terms of outgoings, Postecoglou will hope the club can keep their hands on star striker Harry Kane, who has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Postecoglou said: “Kane is one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved here.

“I just want to introduce myself to Harry, give him my vision, get an understanding from him over what his vision is and try to be successful.”

He added: “My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful and there is no doubt that is what he wants as well.”
